4 Tips to Stay Motivated After a Year in a Pandemic

Can you believe it? It’s been a whole year in a pandemic. Looking back, most of us thought COVID-19 would only last a couple of months. We quickly learned we were wrong. Here we are a year later, finally making improvements, but most of us still feel the pandemic’s effects. We can all agree after a year of facing adversity; motivation can be hard to come by. Here are five tips to stay motivated after a year in a pandemic.

Determine Your Why

We have all been in that place where we hear our alarm go off, and we wish we could hit the snooze button. But we don’t. We shut the alarm off, get up and get ready for work. Ask yourself, why you set the alarm? To get to work on time, correct? But why? What is your purpose? If you are unsure, determine your why statement. According to Simon Sinek, a motivational speaker, our why statement is “the compelling higher purpose that inspires us and acts as the source of all we do. For example, HW Staffing Solutions why statement is “connecting great people with great companies through dignity, excellence, and service.”

Create a Routine

Keep your morning routine whether you are working from home or going into work. Get up, get dress, stop at your favorite coffee shop, get the kids ready for school, daycare, or remote learning. Whatever it may be, keep your morning routine. It will do miracles for maintaining a structure.

Now, the end of your shift comes around. It is time to pick up the kids, workout, or rest before starting your second job. Keep this routine the same, even if it might look a little different. Having a routine helps create structure that provides a sense of accomplishment. The better you get at sticking to your routine, the more accomplished you may feel.

Make Small Daily Goals

Creating and completing daily goals will provide a sense of achievement. They will outline and organize your day and help create structure. Start with four small goals. Once those goals turn into habits, you can make new goals. Some example goals are making the bed every morning, limiting your screen time, going for a walk every day, reading ten pages of a book, etc. Start small and work your way up to bigger goals.

Relax and Recharge

Relaxing and recharging our minds and bodies can be challenging for some, but it is more important than ever. Due to COVID-19, a lot of us are working longer days than we were pre-pandemic. The expression “run yourself into the ground” exists for a reason. It is time to relax and recharge. Try to go to bed an hour earlier or go for a walk. It will help reduce stress, strengthen your immune system, and have a better quality of life.

Motivation isn’t always easy to come by, especially after a year in a pandemic. Start by writing your why statement, then focus on sticking to a routine, making small goals, and always remember to relax and recharge. Once you determine your why reach out to HW Staffing Solutions and let us find your next best job.  Search today!
